WHY DID SATAN ENTER JUDAS?

People had known Judas as one of the disciples who always with Jesus. But how horrible is that when the Bible wrote: “Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So, he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them Luk.22:3-4.”

The Bible wrote how Jesus and other disciples trusted Judas with the money box Jn.13:29. But somehow, John also wrote: “This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it Jn.12:6.” The love of money had distracted Judas from following Jesus with integrity. The love of money had ruined the life of Judas so that he turned into a thief and he began to grow like the father of thief, who is Satan! Jesus said how Satan also called as the thief who come to steal, to kill, and to destroy Jn.10:10.

There are so many evidences in the Bible how the love of money creates an entry for the devil. Gehazi got the leprous of Naaman because of the love of money. Judas was defeated by Satan because of the love of money so that he made the deals with the chief priests to sell Jesus for 30 pieces of silver Mat.26:15. Money is always tempting. But we must always remember what Paul wrote for believers: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows 1Tim.6:10.” We must keep ourselves away from the love of money.

MENGAPA IBLIS MEMASUKI YUDAS?

Orang mengenal Yudas sebagai salah satu rasul yang selalu ada bersama Yesus. Namun betapa mengerikannya ketika Alkitab menulis: “Maka masuklah Iblis ke dalam Yudas, yang bernama Iskariot, seorang dari kedua belas murid itu. Lalu pergilah Yudas kepada imam-imam kepala dan kepala-kepala pengawal Bait Allah dan berunding dengan mereka, bagaimana ia dapat menyerahkan Yesus kepada mereka Luk.22:3-4.”

Alkitab menulis bagaimana Yesus dan murid-murid yang lain mempercayai Yudas untuk memegang kas Yoh.13:29. Namun ternyata, Yohanes juga menulis: “Hal itu dikatakannya bukan karena ia memperhatikan nasib orang-orang miskin, melainkan karena ia adalah seorang pencuri; ia sering mengambil uang yang disimpan dalam kas yang dipegangnya Yoh.12:6.” Cinta akan uang telah mengalihkan perhatian Yudas untuk mengikuti Yesus dengan integritas. Cinta akan uang telah menghancurkan kehidupan Yudas sehingga dia berubah menjadi pencuri dan dia mulai tumbuh seperti sang bapak pencuri, yaitu iblis! Yesus berkata bagaimana iblis juga disebut sebagai pencuri yang datang untuk mencuri dan membunuh dan membinasakan Yoh.10:10.

Ada begitu banyak bukti dalam Alkitab bagaimana cinta akan uang menciptakan jalan masuk bagi iblis. Gehazi mendapat kusta Naaman karena cinta akan uang. Yudas dikalahkan oleh setan karena cinta akan uang sehingga dia membuat kesepakatan dengan para imam kepala untuk menjual Yesus seharga 30 keping perak Mat.26:15. Uang memang selalu menggoda. Namun kita harus selalu ingat apa yang Paulus tulis untuk orang percaya: “Karena akar segala kejahatan ialah cinta uang. Sebab oleh memburu uanglah beberapa orang telah menyimpang dari iman dan menyiksa dirinya dengan berbagai-bagai duka 1Tim.6:10.” Kita harus menjauhkan diri dari cinta akan uang.
