Daily Bible Reading: John 18:1-18, Ezekiel 27-29

LET THEM GO

Jesus had promised to protect His disciples and indeed He fulfilled it. Maybe that was the most terrifying night for the disciples when suddenly so many soldiers came to the garden where Jesus and His disciples used to pray together. Jesus then answered the soldiers, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,” that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none Jn.18:8-9.”

Jesus is the true shepherd, He is not just a hireling. Jesus said: “But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep Jn.10:12-13.” But the true shepherd will not run away, Jesus has a total care about His sheep.

The same promise and the same action are given to believers. We can have a perfect peace as we know that Jesus always there for us. Isaiah wrote: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You Isa.26:3.” David wrote: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me Psa.23:4.” Lots of difficulties and challenges will happen at the last days 2Tim.3:1-5, but rest assured that Jesus will protect us, even the church will be given two wings of a great eagle so that we can fly to the place of nourishment and divine protection from God Rev.12:14.

BIARKANLAH MEREKA PERGI

Yesus telah berjanji untuk melindungi murid-murid-Nya dan sesungguhnya Dia menggenapinya. Mungkin itu adalah malam yang paling menakutkan bagi para murid ketika tiba-tiba ada begitu banyak prajurit datang ke taman di mana Yesus dan murid-murid-Nya biasa berdoa bersama. Jawab Yesus pada para prajurit: “Telah Kukatakan kepadamu, Akulah Dia. Jika Aku yang kamu cari, biarkanlah mereka ini pergi.” Demikian hendaknya supaya genaplah firman yang telah dikatakan-Nya: “Dari mereka yang Engkau serahkan kepada-Ku, tidak seorangpun yang Kubiarkan binasa Yoh.18:8-9.”

Yesus adalah gembala sejati, Dia bukan sekedar gembala upahan. Yesus berkata: “Sedangkan seorang upahan yang bukan gembala, dan yang bukan pemilik domba-domba itu sendiri, ketika melihat serigala datang, meninggalkan domba-domba itu lalu lari, sehingga serigala itu menerkam dan mencerai-beraikan domba-domba itu. Ia lari karena ia seorang upahan dan tidak memperhatikan domba-domba itu Yoh.10:12-13.” Namun gembala sejati tidak akan lari, Yesus memberikan perhatian menyeluruh bagi domba-domba-Nya.

Janji yang sama dan tindakan yang sama diberikan pada orang percaya. Kita dapat memiliki kedamaian yang sempurna karena kita tahu bahwa Yesus selalu ada untuk kita. Yesaya menulis: “Yang hatinya teguh Kaujagai dengan damai sejahtera yang sempurna, sebab kepada-Mulah ia percaya Yes.26:3.” Daud menulis: “Sekalipun aku berjalan dalam lembah kekelaman, aku tidak takut bahaya, sebab Engkau besertaku; gada-Mu dan tongkat-Mu, itulah yang menghibur aku Mzm.23:4.” Ada begitu banyak kesulitan dan tantangan yang akan terjadi di hari-hari terakhir 2Tim.3:1-5, namun percayalah bahwa Yesus akan melindungi kita, bahkan gereja akan diberikan dua sayap dari burung nasar yang besar sehingga kita dapat terbang ke tempat pemeliharaan dan perlindungan ilahi dari Allah Wah.12:14.
