Daily Bible Reading: 2Corinthians 7, 1Chronicles 10-12
A GOOD SORROW
There is a sorrow that good to have for each believer. Paul explained 2 kinds of sorrow. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death 2Cor.7:10. Sorrow of the world is the opposite of the godly sorrow.
The church at Corinth was in sorrow because the troubles and obstacles that happened with Paul so that Paul did not able to come to Corinth as he promised. They felt very sad but Paul said that it was a godly sorrow 2Cor.7:9. So, what is godly sorrow? It is a sorrow that happens not because of our own fault or our own mistake, but it happens because of the difficult circumstances that is let to be happened by God.
Godly sorrow will work in God’s miraculous way to produces repentance, and it will change lots of things. The church at Corinth was changed after they suffer that godly sorrow 2Cor.7:11. We may want to be happy all the time, but we also must remember that there is something that only could be produced out from godly sorrow. Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy Jn.16:20.” Jesus also prepared the disciples to experience the godly sorrow as He would ascend to the heaven so that the disciples would not able to see Him physically anymore. But Jesus said that it will turn into joy! Let’s not be afraid with this godly sorrow, as we now understand what we may get at the end.
DUKACITA YANG BAIK
Ada dukacita yang baik untuk dimiliki bagi tiap orang percaya. Paulus menjelaskan 2 macam dukacita. Sebab dukacita menurut kehendak Allah menghasilkan pertobatan yang membawa keselamatan dan yang tidak akan disesalkan, tetapi dukacita yang dari dunia ini menghasilkan kematian 2Kor.7:10. Dukacita dari dunia adalah lawan dari dukacita menurut kehendak Allah.
Jemaat di Korintus mengalami dukacita karena kesulitan dan hambatan yang dialami Paulus sehingga dia tidak dapat datang ke Korintus seperti yang dijanjikannya. Mereka merasa sangat sedih tetapi Paulus mengatakan bahwa itu adalah dukacita menurut kehendak Allah 2Kor.7:9. Jadi, apakah dukacita ilahi itu? Itu adalah dukacita yang terjadi bukan karena kesalahan kita sendiri atau kekeliruan kita sendiri, melainkan hal itu terjadi karena keadaan sulit yang diizinkan terjadi oleh Allah.
Dukacita ilahi akan bekerja dengan cara Allah yang ajaib untuk menghasilkan pertobatan, dan itu akan mengubah banyak hal. Jemaat di Korintus berubah setelah mereka menderita dukacita menurut kehendak Allah 2Kor.7:11. Kita mungkin ingin bahagia setiap saat, tetapi kita juga harus ingat bahwa ada hal-hal khusus yang hanya dapat dihasilkan oleh dukacita ilahi. Yesus berkata, “Sesungguhnya kamu akan menangis dan meratap, tetapi dunia akan bergembira; kamu akan berdukacita, tetapi dukacitamu akan berubah menjadi sukacita Yoh.16:20.” Yesus juga mempersiapkan para murid untuk mengalami dukacita menurut kehendak Allah karena Dia akan naik ke surga sehingga para murid tidak dapat lagi melihat Yesus secara jasmani. Tetapi Yesus berkata bahwa hal itu akan berubah menjadi sukacita! Jangan takut dengan dukacita ilahi ini, karena sekarang kita tahu apa yang akan kita peroleh pada akhirnya.
