THE OVERCOMER

Jesus had very important messages for 7 churches in Asia Rev.1:11. Those 7 churches might represent the conditions, the strengths, and the weaknesses of the churches in general, not only in that times but also nowadays. And for each message, Jesus concluded with special blessing for the overcomer.

The church in all ages is always surrounded with challenges and problems. The devil always tries to attack church from every sides. The messages to 7 churches definitely help believers to be faithful with all works that have been done and also at the same time become more aware with any weak point that we may have. Having said that, the church must not give up with any limitation because Jesus is always looking for the overcomer! The overcomers are not those who don’t have any weakness, instead, they are the people of God who always let God’s strength be made perfect in their weakness 2Cor.12:9-10.

The message for those 7 churches is a vivid warning about all challenges that we may experience in the last days. But above all of that, we must believe that being the overcomer is not an impossible thing. Even in the church of Pergamos where Satan’s throne is Rev.2:13, Jesus is still waiting for the overcomer! Praise God for the faithful promise we have in Jesus Christ. Paul wrote: “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place 2Cor.2:14.” Let us strengthen each other and never give up, because God is able to bring us become the overcomer!

SANG PEMENANG

Yesus memiliki pesan-pesan yang sangat penting untuk 7 gereja di Asia Wah.1:11. Ketujuh gereja tersebut dapat mewakili kondisi, kekuatan, juga kelemahan dari gereja secara umum, bukan hanya di masa itu melainkan juga saat ini. Dan untuk setiap pesan, Yesus menutupnya dengan berkat khusus untuk para pemenang.

Gereja di segala zaman selalu dikelilingi tantangan dan masalah. Iblis selalu berusaha menyerang gereja dari segala sisi. Pesan-pesan untuk 7 gereja pastilah menolong orang percaya untuk tetap setia dengan semua pekerjaan yang telah dilakukan dan juga di saat yang sama menjadi lebih waspada dengan setiap titik kelemahan yang mungkin kita miliki. Namun demikian, gereja tidak boleh menyerah karena keterbatasan apa pun karena Yesus selalu mencari pemenang! Pemenang bukanlah mereka yang tidak memiliki kelemahan, melainkan mereka adalah umat Allah yang selalu mengizinkan kuasa Allah disempurnakan di dalam kelemahannya 2Kor.12:9-10.

Pesan untuk 7 gereja tersebut adalah suatu peringatan yang sangat jelas tentang semua tantangan yang mungkin kita alami di akhir zaman. Namun di atas semua itu, kita harus percaya bahwa menjadi pemenang bukanlah hal yang mustahil. Bahkan di gereja Pergamus yang berdiam di takhta Iblis Wah.2:13, Yesus masih menantikan sang pemenang! Terpujilah Allah untuk kesetiaan janji yang kita miliki di dalam Yesus Kristus. Paulus menulis: “Tetapi syukur bagi Allah, yang dalam Kristus selalu membawa kami di jalan kemenangan-Nya. Dengan perantaraan kami Ia menyebarkan keharuman pengenalan akan Dia di mana-mana 2Kor.2:14.” Mari kita saling menguatkan satu sama lain dan jangan pernah menyerah, karena Allah mampu membawa kita untuk menjadi pemenang!
