GROWING JOY

Doing ministry is not about competition, instead, it is all about building the Kingdom of God in togetherness. Indeed, that is the key to have the growing joy at all the time. John the Baptist said: “He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease Jn.3:29-30.”

John the Baptist reminded his disciples not to compete with Jesus. That wrong attitude will only leak our joy. Jesus is the bridegroom and the church is the bride Eph.5:25. And John the Baptist put himself as the friend of the bridegroom. We are invited to work together with Jesus, as God’s fellow workers 1Cor.3:9, as His friends. Together with all local churches in our city, we must build the sense of that friendship, not later in heaven, but from now in this earth. Decreasing ourselves is the only way to let the eternal joy keep growing within us.

We must rejoice for everything that profit the Kingdom of God. Only Jesus must increase, but we must ready to decrease. At the end of everything, we all must give glory and honour and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever. Even the 24 four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created Rev.4:9-11.” Let us pray so that we can have that heart of unity and keep that joy growing more and more.

SUKACITA YANG BERTUMBUH

Melakukan pelayanan bukanlah tentang persaingan, melainkan semata-mata tentang membangun Kerajaan Allah dalam kebersamaan. Sesungguhnya, itulah kunci untuk memiliki sukacita yang terus bertumbuh setiap saat. Yohanes Pembaptis berkata: “Yang empunya mempelai perempuan, ialah mempelai laki-laki; tetapi sahabat mempelai laki-laki, yang berdiri dekat dia dan yang mendengarkannya, sangat bersukacita mendengar suara mempelai laki-laki itu. Itulah sukacitaku, dan sekarang sukacitaku itu penuh. Ia harus makin besar, tetapi aku harus makin kecil Yoh.3:29-30.”

Yohanes Pembaptis mengingatkan murid-muridnya untuk tidak bersaing dengan Yesus. Sikap yang salah itu hanya akan membocorkan sukacita kita. Yesus adalah mempelai laki-laki dan gereja adalah mempelai perempuan Ef.5:25. Dan Yohanes Pembaptis menempatkan dirinya sebagai sahabat mempelai laki-laki. Kita diundang untuk bekerja bersama dengan Yesus, sebagai rekan sekerja Allah 1Kor.3:9, sebagai sahabat-sahabat-Nya. Bersama dengan semua gereja lokal sekota, kita harus membangun rasa persahabatan itu, bukan nanti di surga, melainkan mulai sekarang di bumi ini. Mengecilkan diri sendiri adalah satu-satunya cara untuk mengizinkan sukacita abadi terus bertumbuh di dalam diri kita.

Kita harus bersukacita atas segala sesuatu yang menguntungkan Kerajaan Allah. Hanya Yesus yang harus bertambah, tetapi kita harus siap untuk berkurang. Di akhir dari segala sesuatu, kita semua harus mempersembahkan puji-pujian dan hormat dan ucapan syukur pada Dia yang duduk di atas tahta, yang hidup sampai selama-lamanya. Bahkan 24 empat tua-tua tersungkur di hadapan Dia yang duduk di atas tahta itu, dan mereka menyembah Dia yang hidup sampai selama-lamanya. Dan mereka melemparkan mahkotanya di hadapan takhta itu, sambil berkata: “Ya Tuhan dan Allah kami, Engkau layak menerima puji-pujian dan hormat dan kuasa; sebab Engkau telah menciptakan segala sesuatu; dan oleh karena kehendak-Mu semuanya itu ada dan diciptakan Wah.4:9-11.” Mari berdoa supaya kita dapat memiliki hati yang bersatu dan menjaga agar sukacita itu terus bertumbuh.
